Assistant Accounting Manager

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Accounting Manager in managing client relationships and delivering accurate, timely accounting services.
  • Prepare and review financial statements and reports, ensuring compliance with GAAP, IFRS, and other regulatory standards.
  • Supervise and mentor junior accountants, providing guidance, feedback, and on-the-job training.
  • Assist in the onboarding of new clients, helping integrate financial records into firm systems.
  • Support the month-end and year-end closing processes, including account reconciliations and journal entries.
  • Review bookkeeping, VAT returns, and payroll prepared by junior team members.
  • Assist with coordinating external audits, liaising with auditors, and implementing audit recommendations.
  • Contribute to the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and variance analysis for clients.
  • Support the implementation and maintenance of internal controls for clients to safeguard assets and ensure reliable reporting.
  • Assist with ensuring compliance with statutory and tax filing requirements.
  • Participate in identifying and implementing process improvements to enhance efficiency.
  • Support the use and monitoring of accounting systems and software, ensuring data integrity and accuracy.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across departments to provide comprehensive services to clients.

Qualifications and Experience Required

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; ACCA in progress or partly qualified preferred OR fully Qualified or in the final stages of obtaining an Accounting Qualification.
  • Experience: Minimum of 3–4 years of accounting experience, ideally in a client service or corporate services environment, with some exposure to supervising or mentoring junior staff.

Skills

  • Solid knowledge of financial reporting and accounting principles.
  • Familiarity with IFRS and GASPME reporting standards is a must.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Xero) and MS Office Suite, particularly Excel.
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple client deliverables under tight deadlines.
  • Analytical mindset with attention to detail and problem-solving ability.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills, with a client-focused approach.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a team.
  • Flexibility to adapt to day-to-day changes in workload and priorities.
