Banking Operations Supervisor

Responsible for overseeing the banking operations function and supervising the Banking Officer to ensure efficient, compliant, and high-quality execution of client banking matters. The role also provides operational support on corporate matters where banking and statutory processes intersect, and liaises closely with the accounting department to maintain alignment across financial and corporate workflows.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

Banking Operations:

  • Supervising and reviewing the work of the Banking Officer to ensure accuracy and timely completion of tasks.
  • Overseeing client bank account opening processes from initiation through to approval.
  • Reviewing due diligence documentation prior to submission to banks and financial institutions.
  • Acting as escalation point for complex, high-risk or delayed banking applications.
  • Managing and overseeing KYC periodic reviews conducted by banking institutions.
  • Overseeing day-to-day banking administration matters (user amendments, additional accounts, access changes, etc.).
  • Liaising directly with local and international banks, e-money institutions and other financial providers.
  • Supporting onboarding of new banking or financial channels where required.
  • Developing and refining internal banking procedures, tracking tools and workflow systems.
  • Supporting loan facilitation and other structured financial projects for clients.

Experience & Requirements

  • Minimum 4 years’ experience within banking operations or a corporate service provider environment.
  • Strong knowledge of KYC, due diligence and banking onboarding procedures.
  • Working knowledge of Maltese corporate law and statutory requirements.
  • Experience supervising or mentoring team members will be considered an asset.
  • Excellent organisational, leadership and stakeholder management skills.
